WHEN Mr. L. Stoves, South Shields, applied to the Northern Licensing Authority recently for a B licence to carry tradesmen's goods within a sixmile radius, he said that he was doing so at the request of local tradesmen who were unable to deliver parcels to householders. He had a C-licence van for use in connection with his electrical engineer's business, but this was not fully occupied.
Mr, T. Gardner, a butcher, supported his case and said that he had been hiring a taxi to enable him to deliver orders, as he had been unable to obtain errand boys.
The licence was granted.
