Over and out, citizen

SO THE Home Office through Minister of State Timothy Raison have once again put the block on CB radio. This time the axiom is government public spending cuts. Rubbish!

He knows as well as anyone that the legislation of CB would mean introducing a licensing system on similar lines to television and that these licence fees could be set at a yearly level that would fully cover the administrative costs involved.

No, the real reason is that this Government, like the last, does not want its citizens to possess the use of one of the most fundamental modes of freedom of speech and contact: something that is enjoyed in almost every other Western democracy. Decisions about CB are neither administrative nor technical, but purely political. It's a disgrace! A. J. WHITE 92 High Street Little Paxton Huntingdon, Cambs
