LARRY SMITH, Transport and General Workers' Union 'executive officer, is the epitome of restraint, even when moved to anger by the Press. "Subservient as they are to the advertisers, with editors willingly accepting the patronage of those subscribers making large donations to the Tory party, it is small wonder that the real news becomes slanted," he bleats in the TGWU Record. Having accused the Press of "lies, distortion, innuendo, half-truths, false reporting, political overtones," he concludes nobly: "The Record will not enter a slanging match with the media .
