MR HENEBERY'S castigation of Leyland is, in my opinion fully justified, particularly his comments concerning spares.

The company I am employed by has been phasing out Leylands for a number of years and re-equipping with Volvos. We have just two Leylands left, which are due to go in a few months and, like Mr Henebery, we have had all sorts of difficulties in getting spares.

A wait of a few weeks for an exhaust pipe is a recent example and the attitude of our local Leyland main dealer is exactly as described by your correspondent.

Dealing with our Volvo supplier is completely the opposite. On the rare occasions we require a Volvo spare, we get helpful and courteous service from the Volvo dealer's staff and 99 times out of 100, an off-theshelf availability on spares for a wide range of Volvo models dating back over the past eight years.
