100 MPs fight the fly-tippers

• Almost 100 MPs of all parties are supporting an anti-flytipping motion tabled by Labour's new junior transport spokesperson Joan Ruddock. They want the Government to support the Control of Pollution (Amendment) Bill when it corn es before the House on 24 February. Under this Bill vehicle owners would have to register all lorries to be used for waste tipping. Fly tippers would face tougher penalties, including a new power to impound vehicles.
