• Following suggestions last week of a possible takeover by the West Midland Passenger Transport Authority of The Midland Motor Omnibus Co Ltd (CM March 5), the National Bus Company has now stated that discussions on a broad front have been taking place for some time between the PTA and Midland Red, covering various possibilities for the co-ordination of bus services in the Authority's area. The discussions are still
progressing, with a view to the eventual negotiation of an agreement in accordance with the duties placed on both parties by the Transport Act 1968.
In the course of the discussions representatives of the Authority have raised the question of a possible takeover by them. The NBC has not taken any decision as to the basis on which it is prepared to make an agreement with the authority.
