! greater interest, however, is that design allows the incorporation of normal-height bodywork within an all height of 13 ft. 3+ in., this being use of the low chassis frame.

ie rear axle is a double-reduction with a dropped centre section for gangway height. The input is at the near side of the ask. the drive passing first through spiral-bevel gearing and then through helical spur gears.
Four rolling-lobe air spring units form the rear suspension, the axle being carried on two beams which have a spring at each end. Independent suspension is employed at the front, the layout being similar to that used on the Victory air-sprung underfloOr-engined single-decker chassis.
Girling disc brakes are operated by a
split-circuit air-hydraulic systetn. Each front disc has a single twin-caliper unit. whilst the rear discs have two twin caliper units. A drum brake carried at the front of the tear axle is operated by the hand-brake.
Recirculating-ball steering is employed and the front wheels carry 11.00-20-in. (14-ply) tyres, 9.00-20-in. (12-ply) tyres being fitted to the rear wheels. A 35-gal. cylindrical fuel tank is mounted on the oil-side frame side-member immediately behind the rear wheels:
A typical seating layout of a body based on this new Guy chassis would give 33 seats in the lower saloon, and 45 seats in the upper. No steps are required for entrance to the main portion of the bus, and both body floors are flat. The staircase is on the near side of the body, a layout which allows rapid loading and unloading.
A 16-ft.-wheelbase chassis is available for rear-entrance bodywork; the engine is mounted centrally at the front. The standard forward-entrance chassis has a wheelbase of 15 ft. 4 in.
