Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A This term refers to the connecting drive

between the axles in a double-drive bogie. It is normal practice to incorporate a differential between the two driven axles to take into account differences in speed at the input couplings. And because the vehicle would be immobile if only one of the four wheels lost traction with this arrangement, some designs enable the third differential to be made inoperative (locked) so that a wheel on both axles will have to lose adhesion before the vehicle becomes immobile.
