TNSURANCE cover for taking commercial vehicles abroad is likely to cost considerably more soon than the £2 "green card". Leading insurers plan to separate foreign and domestic risk.
This became clear last weekend, when the Monopolies Commission reported that the fiat-rate green card charge, covering third party risk, was a restraint on competition, was against the public interest, and should be ended.
The President of the Board of Trade, Mr. Douglas Jay, accepted this and announced he would be having talks with the Motor Insurers Bureau.
