Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BUS LANES have been saving London Transport £500,000 and attracting 2.3m extra passenger miles—as well as slightly easing traffic flow.

Mileage lost has been reduced by an average of 10 per cent for each bus lane introduced and the saving goes up with every extra lane.

These are the findings in a report which went before the GLC transport committee on Tuesday.

A study of 49 bus lanes revealed that at 18 the traffic actually moved faster while at • another 15 speeds were unchanged and at the remaining 18 delays of 10 to 14 seconds were experienced.

Transport committee chairman Mr Jim Daly commented on the report: "I commend it to any Doubting Thomas who is cynical about London's bus lanes."
