Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

JUMBLED up with the tractors, haymakers, harvesters and elevators at the Royal Agricultural Show at Kenilworth this year was just a handful of commercial vehicles.

It was a disappointing turnout for hauliers operating in the specialised agricultural and livestock fields who have been going through some hard times recently.

But with survival more important to operators than vehicle replacement the manufacturers and distributors obviously decided to pull in their horns and to try on another day when there is a bit more cash about.

One vehicle on show with more general application was a Foden S83 eight-wheeler at 30-ton gvw with a Twin Skip loader.

The Twin Skip was designed by North Riding Garages and uses Edbro mechanical / hydraulic components. It is designed to carry 2x 12cuyd or smaller bucket-loader skips of all standard makes and it is claimed that it can be easily integrated into existing fleets.

The Unimog U120/425 excited a good deal of comment on its first outing at •the show. With four-wheel drive it is powered by a Mercedes-Benz six-cylinder diesel engine. The maker claims that it can do most of the jobs done by an ordinary farm tractor and still be used as a three-way tipper.

Without these exhibits there was little to attract the transport men to Kenilworth. It could be that there are now too many vehicle exhibitions. This year in addition to county shows, there has been manufacturer participation at Tipeon and Agristock and the Earls Court Show takes place in September.
