ALTHOUGH a small boilerhouse to -/-1 supply heat for radiators was to be the only building to be constructed on the site, Edinburgh Corporation had to pay a development charge of £500 before it could use six acres of land behind Gorgie tram depot as an openair park for 80-buses.
Members of the transport subcommittee recently inspected the chassis -of an underfloor-engined vehicle which is to be put into experimental use shortly. It is hoped that it will be allowed to carry' as many passengers, seated and standing, as a double-decker. Should the experiment be successful, big single-deckers may replace the doubledeckers.
