• Police forces across Wales are cracking down on drivers using mobile phones on the move. During the All Wales Mobile Phone Campaign, which runs from 4-8 March, police are keeping an eye out for drivers who use phones while driving.
Whilst there is currently no offence relating specifically to driving and mobile phones. anyone caught could face a fine of up to £1,000 and three penalty points for driving without due care and attention, or an onthe-spot fine of £30 for not being in proper control of a motor vehicle.
"Driving while using a mobile phone has reached epidemic proportions. Motorists should remember that it is a highly dangerous activity and a proven killer" says Sgt Nigel Whitehouse, community tra safety officer for the So Wales Police.
"There are a number of ci sions in which people have b killed or seriously irdu throughout the UK in which use of a mobile phone has b attributed as a major facto that collision.he adds.

The Magistrates' Asocial and the Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents Ii already called for legisiatior penalise anyone who use mobile phone while driving.
