II Three big ferry firms are bumping up their freight capabiiities. KO Portsmouth will take delivery of a new ship in July; the Pride of Cherbourg will sail the Portsmouth-toCherbourg route from next September. It has greater freight capacity than P&O's two existing ships, Pride o; Cherbourg and Pride of Hampshire.
Truckline, Brittany Ferries' Portsmouth-Santander link, resumes in March after winter refits with two return sailings a week until November 2002.
Stena Line's Irish Sea superferry, Stone Europe, is set to enter service on the Fishguard-Rosslare route in midMarch, boosting freight capacity by up to 40% with as many as 100 freight units on each of its two round trips a day.
