Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IA flexible stainless-steel exhaust pipe that does not need a separate silencer is soon to be launched on the UK market. Swedish manufacturer, Safety Line, claims that the thousands of different exhaust systems used on light vans and cars can be replaced by one of its four standard pipes. One of 30 adaptor rings is used to make the connection between the exhaust manifold and the new system.

The pipe's secret is in its corru gations and glass-wool lining which combine to silence the exhaust note. As with normal flexible exhausts the corrugations allow it to be bent to the required shape.

There are four sizes of pipe from 50mm to 75mm diameter and each comes in two lengths. Petrol and small diesels can use the Safety Line exhaust system but a large truck version is not available at the moment.

Without the need for separate silencers the new system is said to be lighter, weighing about 1 kg/ metre, and last longer.

There is a catalytic converter insert which Safety Line claims has a better performance than its conventional equivalent.

This is due in the converter material being spread out over a longer distance meaning that one section is always operating at its optimum temperature giving maximum cleaning.
