• ABEL DEMOUNTABLE SYSTEMS USHER Graham Usher has joined Abel Demountable Systems as area sales manager for northern England. He is responsible for promoting demounts and bodywork.

Martin Ede has joined Reynolds Boughton as technical sales manager of the engineering division based at Amersham, Bucks. He was formerly technical sales manager at Blackwood Hodge.
• YL BUS AND COACH HICKS Mike Hicks has been promoted by VL Bus and Coach to general manager of the SouthWest service centre, based at Bristol. He has been with Leyland Bus since 1983.
• HERON DISTRIBUTION OADES
Stewart Oades will become operations director of Heron Distribution on 1 April. He is currently working for Argyll, where he is supply chain project director.
Oades began his management career in 1975 as a trainee with a Unilever subsidiary, followed by operational and development roles with Carryfast.
• RTITB JAMES Andrew James has been appointed marketing manager at the Road Transport Industry Training Board. He has more than 20 years' experience in marketing, including a stint with Marketing Improvements and Avis Rent A Car.
• ILDM WHITE The former operational director of Coca Cola Schweppes, Peter White, has been awarded the Institute of Logistics and Distribution Management's Sir Robert Lawrence award for outstanding achievement in the industry.
• UNITED CARRIERS BROWN Sandy Brown is the new northern regional manager for United Carriers. Brown, who was general manager of Parceline's Croydon depot for two years, will be responsible for
United's Durham, Gretna and Lnverkeithing outlets.
• DATATRAK POULTER Vehicle tracking specialist Datatrak has appointed Philip Poulter as national sales manager.
