• The Potter Group, which operates two private rail sidings, claims it has already picked up 10,000 tonnes of extra business as a result of Speedlink's recent decision to shut its UK wagon load service this summer (CM 20 December-2 January).
Potter's managing director Stephen Barlow foresees further business gains after the closure, however, he attacks the Government's decision to axe the service, calling it "shortsighted and doctrinaire". Potter is a member of the Railfreight Users Group.
