• Heavy truck builder Unipower will be launching a successor to its 6x4 S24 Contractor later this year.
The Watford-based manufac turer which took over Scanamell's business from Rover in 1988 — claims its current S24 is the only bonnetted heavy haulage truck made in the UK It has just supplied a third Contractor to Scottish Nuclear. The vehicle is powered by a Cummins 298kW (400hp) engine and an Allison gearbox. It pulls a Crane Fruehauf semitrailer and complies with STGO Category 3 regulations.
Unipower has also completed the 4x2 recovery chassis, which it was working on with specialist bodybuilder Wreckers International before it went into receivership late last year.
