Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Seddon Atkinson has revamped its 17-tonne 17.21P with a series of changes to suspension, shock absorbers and brakes.

The improvements come five months after the Oldham-based manufacturer introduced the 156kW (210hp) 210T Perkins Phaser engine in the model, replacing the 134kW (160hp) and 119kW (180hp) options. The 1721P's front axle has now been uprated from 6.61 to 7.1 tonnes; the rear axle stays at 10.5 tonnes. Parabolic suspension replaces multi-leaf springs on both axles and shock absorbers are introduced on the rear axle.

Girling Simplex air brakes replace FCSS brakes, increasing the frictional area from 5,470cm2 to 5,916cm2.

All the changes are standard and come on line this month.

Seddon Atkinson's Motor Panels cab was facelifted for use on the 17.21 with a new Isri air suspension seat and a Strato-style steering wheel. Interior noise levels were said to have been cut by 1.5dB(A). The 5.6m-wheelbase 17.21 now has a 12,280kg body payload allowance.

LI Seddon Atkinson has opened a new dealership in Exeter. SA (Exeter) is an offshoot of SA Trucks in Bristol. Armstrong Vehicle Repairs of Reading also joins the network as a parts and service outlet.
