• London's first Red Route is tailing to tackle traffic bottlenecks which cause the biggest delays in journey times, says the Islington Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber, which is preparing a survey on the effects of the Red Route scheme, agrees that traffic is moving faster — but only in between jams at roundabouts and intersections.
El The Department of 'rransport refutes criticism by Islington Council that it is prematurely claiming that the Red Routes are successfully speeding up traffic. The scheme will be assessed by the TRRL in March before results are issued, says the Dip.
