Ma_ G. H. HARRISON has become Lincoln district manager of the National Benzoic Co., Ltd. MR. W. A. WALMSLEY is now manager of the Cambridge district, and MR. H. COLE manager of the Ipswich district.

MR. H. S. GORDON, welfare officer of the London Transport Executive, has retired. MR. F. H. SPRATLING, Chief establishment officer, is now responsible for welfare matters. Mr. Gordon joined the London General concern in 1926.

• Ma. W. E. WRIGHT has retired from the board of the Pyrene Co., Ltd., and from control of the company's metal finishing division. Responsibility for this division has.been taken over by MR. H. F. PARSHALL, who has been a director since 1947.

MR. W. G. ALLEN, chairman of Atkinson Lorries (Holdings), Ltd., left for Rhodesia, last week, accompanied by the company's managing director, MR. B. FRANCIS CAUNT. They planned to see new subsidiary companies in South Africa, and later to meet distributors in Australia and New Zealand.

MR. P. E. G. DURNFORD has been appointed Lancashire area manager for A.C.V. Sales, Ltd. He takes over from MR. A. E. NORTON, who will now cover the Potteries, South Cheshire and North Wales. MR. D. GORDON is the company's new area manager for Northern Scotland.

MR. L. A. STEVENS has been appointed manager of the newly formed material handling department at F. Perkins, Ltd. For the past eight years, Mr. Stevens has been concerned with material handling and with the investigation of industrial and clerical methods employed in ordnance depots.

MR JAMES CLEARY, NVII.0 has been responsible for Yorkshire and north east Dunlopillo sales for the Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., has handed over his duties in the north east to MR. PETER PETTMAN. Mr. Pettman will be replaced in West Lancashire and North Wales by MR. MICHAEL DILNOT.

MR. JOHN L. KING, managing director of Pollard Bearings, Ltd., flew to Canada, last week, on a short business tour. He planned to visit the Canadian Pollard Bearing factory, of which he is president. MR. J. H. D. Prom Pollard's sales manager, left at the same time for New York on a 15,000-mile round trip—his fourth Atlantic crossing in 12 months.

MR. J. W. MACMAHON has been appointed manager of tbe Industrial Lubricants Division of Wakefield-Dick Industrial Oils, Ltd., in succession to MR. R. J. TURNER, who has retired. Mr. MacMahon is made a director of the company, and another new member of the board is MR. C. R. WOODFIELD, works production manager for the Wakefield Group.

SPECIAL LICENSING MEETING

THE special meeting of the national licensing committee of the Road Haulage Association which, as announced in The Commercial Motor last week, will consider the implications of Section 9 (4) of the Transport Act, 1953, and the renewal of special A licences, will be held on February 25.

A sub-committee of the national rates and carriers' liability committee will meet shortly to revise conditions of carriage.

British Road Services have increased their maximum liability to 000 a ton.

PAPERS FOR P.T.A.

T"papers will be read at the Public Transport Association's annual conference at Harrogate from May 13-15. Mr. J. E Hollands, chief engineer of the North Western Road Car Co., Ltd., will deal with "Developments Affecting the Maintenance of Public Service Vehicles." Mr. G. A. Cherry, general manager of Birkenhead Transport Department, will speak on The Changing Scene."
