• General Accident plans to introduce an insurance policy designed for fleets of between five and 25 vehicles by next September. Fleet Plus allows a haulier to insure vehicles on one policy for comprehensive, third party or third party fire and theft cover.
Hauliers using the policy will be given a J:41.) rebate for any driver they put on a GA approved driving course. The company will also give the free use of a van (up to 7.5 tonnes GVW) for up to seven days to replace a GA comprehensively insured van put off the road by accidental damage.
There will be a 24-hour freephone service to help drivers sort out windscreen breakages, accidents or breakdowns, as well as legal consultants on call at all hours who will give advice on all areas of an operator's business. Medical cover for drivers travelling abroad is an optional extra.
