"The condition of new goods vehicles has improved appreciably over the past year," says the Freight Transport Associa tion. This observation is based on the inspection of 541 new lorries last year and a reduction from 9.4 to 7.83 in the average number of defects in each. One of those faults would have attracted a prohibition notice in a roadside check.
What a commentary on the modern commercial vehicle when the presence of nearly eight defects in new equipment is hailed as an appreciable improvement. Or am 1 being unreasonable in expecting hardware costing as much as a house to work?
