THE PRICE of tyres — including commercial vehicle tyres — is set to rise during the next six months.
This warning was given by the chairman and managing director of Goodyear Great Britain, Westi Hansen speaking to employees at Goodyear's Wolverhampton factory.
Mr Hansen pointed out that with the exception of natural rubber, all raw materials used in the tyre industry are derived, directly or indirectly, from crude oil.
The materials which go towards making a tyre such as nylon, polyester, carbon black, synthetic rubber and rubber chemicals have all risen in price, said Mr Hansen.
