THREE 12.2 metres (40ft) chassisless, insulated semitrailers fitted with Avolift tail lifts and 1.4 metre (4ft 7in) wide side doors have been ordered from the Bonallack Division of Alcan Transport Products Ltd. by Spalding Haulage Ltd.
The vans have 2 inches of insulation and are fitted with Thermo King dual-purpose SNWD50 refrigeration units so that the loads of either vegetables or plants may be kept at the required temperature (cool for the vegetables, warm for the plants).
To ensure a smooth ride for the delicate plants the trailers are fitted with Hands Neway close-coupled air suspension, and vertical Loadlok tracking enables the plant carrying trolleys to be held in place with shoring poles.
Spalding Haulage Ltd, will use the trailers for carrying vegetables and flowers from local Lincolnshire producers to Holland and Belgium,
