THE FIERCE court battle between Transport Secretary Nicholas Ridley and the Greater London Council over its proposed lorry ban is rapidly drawing nearer.
The GLC is in the process of asking the High Court for a hearing, and it is expected that it will not be refused. A judge ruled that the GLC could apply for a hearing after spending two to three weeks reviewing the two sides' arguments.
Operators could still be faced with the night and weekend ban for lorries over 16.5 tonnes by mid-summer if the GLC wins.
