Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Bridge builders of ancient times did their work well. Reporting on the Stamford County Bridge, the East Riding Comity Surveyor mentioned that the bridge which carries the York and Melton Road across the River Derwent, 'and the lock leading to the canal just west of Stamford Bridge village, was lest rebuilt in the year 1648, and is of Cloughton stone. It comprises three arches, one of 28-ft., span autos the lock, eneeol 39 ft. span across the river, and a land span of 18 ft., with a roadway over the river 131 ft. wide. The bridge was 'repaired by the C.C. in 1902, 1906, and 1913, and at present the structure is in good cendition, with the exception that some of the stonework is slightly decayed.

He suggests that the use of. a stone preserving fluid would prevent this decay spreading, and is all that is necessary at the preseet time to.put the structure into a good state of repair.
