The Select Committee on London's Traffic published its recommendations last week. They include, as was universally anticipated, for the provision of one central authority with wide powers to be exerted over the •Metropolitan police area. It is recommended that a small body should be apooinad, consisting of not More than.frue members, to be appointed by the Mvernment from nominations submitted by: Home Office, 1; Ministry of Ways and Cotntnuniea tions, I.; L.C.C., hical atithorities outside the .Administrative County of London, 1; with an independent chairman to be appointed by the Government.
