• Reading Transport's new managing director Rod Wilson plans to increase the company's coach tour programme by at least 50% by the end of next year.
He also predicts that contract and private hire will rise by up to 20% next year.
If the plans are successful Reading will buy more vehicles the following year, says Wilson, who joined the firm five months ago from Black & Decker.
But Wilson stresses that buses will remain Reading's core business.
Starting next month, RI is launching a study of the public's opinion of its bus services in the Reading area.
By the middle of next year, the study will be complete and it will help the company decide on service frequencies and vehicle ordering.
The previous managing director of Reading Transport, Royston Jenkins, retired last week after 23 years' service.
