a machine, and we were then given some music to listen to. But before you could say "I'll name that tune" we were speaking to an operator.

The process would have taken about two minutes if we'd known the truck's home dealer, so we had to interrupt the process to get this info. The second call to finalise the details took only a few seconds to complete. The ETA was given as an hour; in fact the familiar van arrived in just over half that time.

Having been up at Leicester Forest East on a breakdown at 6am Ian Noden was actually on the T&B site fixing a cracked compressor pipe when CMfirst arrived -we let a suitable interval pass after he left before calling Dafaid!

It turned out he was fixing a snapped gear linkage on a 95 Series at the nearby Royal Mail complex when he received the call sending him back to the DIDC for a "non-starting XF95".

Arriving with a smile, and finding out there was no truck to fix, he cancelled his request to Rugby for the agent's DAVIE diagnostic tool. "When it's cold you get a lot of jump starts, although electrics are common all year around," he told us.

"I've got a jump-start kit and various tools and a tester that shows any electrical fault. I've lost count of the number of times I've changed a red airline that got snagged on trailers usually curtainsiders," Noden remarked. "With sliding suzie rails they can also get snagged up.'
