Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ABOUT 15 cwt. has been saved in the weight of a 55-seat double-deck body recently supplied by Crossley Motors, Ltd., to Birmingham Corporation. It weighs 2 tons 12 cwt. In its construction, extensive use is made of plastic panels.

Standard Crossley light-alloy sections have been employed, all interior panels being solid riveted and the external ones Tucker Pop riveted. An innovation, so far as Birmingham is concerned, is the incorporation of the Crossley patented resilient mounting attachments between the bearer ends and the sides of the body. The bulkheads and bearers are mounted directly on the chassis. Fibreglass, reinforced with polyester resin, has been widely used, all shaped exterior panels from the upper saloon cant-rails downwards being in this material. With the exception of the floors, which are of resin-bonded plywood, timber has been eliminated.

The body is glazed with 26-oz. glass, and to assist the normal ventilating system, vertically pivoted windows have been fitted in the rear D-lights in the upper saloon and at the front ends of both saloons.

Full-width Ferodo matting is used in place of the standard treadplates and Dulon is employed on toe panels and the luggage platform.
