FROM 1948-1952, £152m. was spent on coal-rffining, 1:177m. on gas production, £676m. on electricity generation and £43m. on roads. These figures were, given by the Chancellor of the Exchequer to Mr. Janner last week. Mr. Butler said that to the sum for
roads should be added £250m. spent on maintenance. " Roads remain a primary source of anxiety and responsibility for us all," he stated.
