• Glasgow Corporation Transport and bus crews in the city have resolved their differences on protection for crews from rowdies on night buses. A special meeting was called last week after incidents on buses over a few days.
The most serious incident was a bottle throwing attack on a bus on August 6 in which the windscreen of the bus was smashed. Earlier, four policemen had boarded the vehicle in answer to the driver's emergency klaxon call, but left before the bus reached the terminus, where the attac took place.
At the meeting were representatives c the TGWU, Glasgow transport commit-to and the police. In a joint statement they sai police would continue to give cover on a possible occasions and would renew the efforts in the future.
Every encouragement would be given ft closer co-operation between shop stewarc and the police. They also agreed to me( again in a month's time.
