III In anticipation of an upsurge in demand for truck speed limiters, Manchester-based . manufacturer Romatic is adding a new tier to its distribution and fitting service.
The extra capacity has been created by legislation on retrofitting trucks in 1992, says managing director Gerald Gray. Romatic plans to appoint eight engineering-based stockholding distributors with good sales connections in Britain's truck and PCV industry.
The move is designed to avoid the problems that occurred when speed limiters were introduced on coaches earlier this year. Gray believes that the installation of limiters on trucks should be arranged to co-incide with its annual test. "This will avert what could be disastrous for the industry," he says.
Two distributors already in place and fitting agents are needed in the South East, Midlands and East Anglia to join Romatic's network of 90 dealers.
In addition to its new System 2000 speed limiter and cruise control, Romatic offers the Tripchekker anti-interference device, and is developing an engine and PTO speed control.
