• Middlesbrough heavy haulier Econofreight is being sued for compensation by a moped rider who was severely injured when he crashed into a concrete beam protruding from a trailer parked at the side of the road.
Wilfred Annis of St Ives says the trailer obstructed all but 0.5m of the carriageway and was parked just outside the light shed by a 24-hour petrol station, so his eyes had no time to adjust.
