RVI collapse • French truck manufacturer Renault Vehicules Industriels has reported a collapse in first-half group profits from £52.7m (FFr517m) to £2.9m. Sales were down 14%. However, RVI says the company should break even by the end of the year if the AE range is successful.
More stops • The Department of Transport is considering allowing local councils to authorise small petrol stations and restaurants by motorways, according to London's Evening Standard. At present only the DTp can authorise motorway services.
