Ken Mabbett is to succeed John Bloylock as head of transport at Porcelforce's Milton Keynes headquarters when he retires on 1 October. Mobbett is currently operations chief of Parcelforce's express services.
In his new role, Mabbett will oversee Parcelforce's 7,500-strong fleet with responsibility for maintenance and effective vehicle use. The fleet will be expanded over the next 18 months as part of a restructuring programme.
Another task will be to streamline the transport management structure and introduce an improved fleet management computer system to 20 workshops.
He joined Royal Mail Parcels in 1986 as divisional transport manager, becoming Parcelforce Express boss in 1989.
