Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

This D500 with 5 ca.yd. welded steel body and single front ram by Telehoist Ltd. is one of Ford's new light tippers.

• Ford has introduced a comprehensive range of light/medium tipper chassis specifically designed for general and municipal tipping applications. These tippers have been developed by the Ford Special Vehicle Order department.

There are four basic models in the SVO light tipper-range, all with 108in. wheelbases. They are the 0200 with a plated gross weight of 5.1 tons, the D300 plated at 6.3 tons, the D500 plated at 8,1 tons and the 0550 plated at 9 tons.

The D200 and D300 models have been developed from the normal production 120wheelbase versions with the frames reduced to the 108in.-wheelbase required for tipper operation. Both these models are powered by the Ford 240 cu.in. four-cylinder diesel engine which develops 82.5 bhp at 2,800 rpm.

The 0200 tipper has a 5,500lb front axle plated to 2.4 tons and a 1,300lb rear axle plated to 3.2 tons to provide loading latitude. Front springs are rated at 2,250Ib and the rear springs 3,70016.

The 0300 tipper has a 5,5001b front axle plated at 2.5 tons and a 13,000lb rear axle plated at 4.2 tons. Front springs are rated at 2,4001b and rear springs at 4,30016, and front and rear shock absorbers are also fitted.

Both D200 and D300 108in. models are priced at £45 over the price of the normal 120in. models plus the cost of specified options. The 0200 tippers, therefore, are priced from £1,080 and the D300 models from £1,085.

The 0500 and 0550 tippers utilize the 108in.-frame of the 0750 tipper and both are powered by the Ford 330 cu.in, six-cylinder diesel engine which produces 115 bhp at 2,800 rpm. This engine is an option in conventional 0500 120m. models but is specified as standard in the 108in. versions.

Both models have 7,5001b front axles and 15,000lb rear axles but the 0500 axles are plated to 2.5 tons and 5.5 tons respectively and the D550 axles to 3,3 tons and 6.8 tons. Front springs of both are rated at 3.050Ib and rear springs at 5,700Ib.

Recommended retail price of both 108in. D500 and D550 is £40 over the price of 120in. models, plus the cost of options specified as standard. This means that D500 tippers are available from £1,306 and 0550 models from £1,303.

Ford-approved bodies and tipping gear for all models are available from Anthony Hoist Ltd., Telehoist Ltd., and Edbro Ltd.
