• Nine Merseyside operators, including the William Rainford Group and 33 of theirdrivers appeared before the Liverpool Stipendary Magistrate on Wednesday charged with overloading and breaches of licence conditions. The companies pleaded guilty to 177 conditions charges and 145 overloading, and the drivers on one count each of overloading. All other summonses were withdrawn by the prosecution.
