Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Mr. Chisholm has rather missed the point in the design of this cab. One objective was to reduce the stress levels in the main structure of the cab and also to eliminate high frequency vibrations particularly in the unladen condition where the general performance of the cab and all the associated attachments (instruments. etc.) is improved. This is particularly important in many overseas operating conditions where often such trucks are operated for thousands of miles on corrugated roads and tracks.

From his comments it is obvious that Mr. Chisholm is only considering fundamental vertical vibrations whereas in fact one of the most critical features on shortwheelbase vehicles is to overcome pitching (back-slap) which is a fore and aft motion. A considerable amount of development work has been done on the suspension of this cab and subjectively the driver's comfort has been greatly improved. What we are doing is to supply two isolators, one to take care of horizontal vibrations and high frequency vertical vibrations and the other for low frequency vertical vibrations, and the effect in all types of service has shown the results to be exceptionally successful.
