Brief Details of a Recent Willowbrook Product which is Designed and Constructed on Sound Lines.

rriFIE illustration which we publish _L on this page shows one of the range of distinctive types of bus body produced by Willowbrook, Ltd., in its works at Derby Road, Loughborough. It is a typical example of the wellproportioned and attractive class of 32-seater body built by the company and, in this instance, it is mounted on a Model 423 Associated Daimler chassis. The body is framed-up of well-seasoned ash and the panelling is carried out in steel. It is well braced by the use of steel corner plates and Specially forged ironwork which ensure that the structure is extremely rigid without introducing excessive weight. The roof is of the domed pattern and the hoopsticks which support it are strengthened with suitable ironwork. The underside of the roof is lined and is finished in an embossed design which gives a decorative note to the interior.

As we have said, the body is a 32seater and the seating layout follows orthodox practice in that seats for two people are disposed on each side of a wide central gangway. The seats themselves are of an improved semibucket pattern, having well-upholstered backs on spring steel supports. The cushions are built up on well-sprung cases and are detachable. Hand-buffed leather is used throughont for upholstering. A partition is fitted over the rear-wheel arches so that the rear corn both at the front and at the rear. The doors are well recessed and of wide dimensions, thus ensuring easy and safe movement of passengers to and from the interior. The driver is housed in an enclosed. cab alongside the off side of the engine, and his compartment Is protected by a plate-glass windscreen, the top half of which is adjustable. A roll curtain is fitted behind the driver so aS to obviate the effects of refraction when driving by night.

The main side lights are arranged brake takes effect on the rear cardan shaft and is hand applied. The susPension of the chassis has received special attention, the springs, both front and rear, being long and wide. Auxiliary leaves are used in the assemblies at the rear, and these come into action only when heavy loads are being 'carried. A low load-line is a feature of the chassis, the actual height to the top of the frame when the vehicle is under load being only 2 ft. 01 in.
