Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ONE hears a lot about proposed developments of rapid transport systems for some British cities and, in particular, Manchester. A possibility which has been mooted is the construction of special overhead concrete tracks for buses and a whisper I have heard about a new guided bus could well be a project for Manchester.

This is a bus which would be a full-size version of the toys so many children play with at home—you know, the cars which race along a special track guided by a "prong" running in a groove. The bus, which I understand is in the development stage, would be electronically controlled by means of the afore-mentioned prong and would be automatically steered as well. At the end of the special track the prong would be retracted so the bus could continue its journey over suburban roads steered and controlled in the normal manner.
