ANOTHER municipal bus operator to switch to Bristol single-decker buses is Reading Corporation Transport which has ordered 14 RE chassis to be fitted with Gardner 6HLX engines and dual-entrance standee bodies by East Lancashire Coachbuilders Ltd. at a total cost of £106,258. The buses will replace double-decker trolleybuses on the Whitley Wood Road and Northumberland Avenue routes as the first stage of the switch to an all-motor bus fleet.
Meanwhile, Newport Corporation transport committee recommends acceptance of the tender of Eastern • Coach Works Ltd. for the supply of bodywork for eight Bristol RESL single-deckers at a price of £3,330 per body.
