Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ROOTES reports that the majority of Commer and Dodge vehicles produced since 1957 will meet without modification the interim braking regulations which come into effect on January 1 1968 and also the proposed final requirements due to be effective in early 1970s.

Rootes also states that in cases where vehicles will require a conversion kit to enable them to meet the interim standards, parts to improve the handbrake efficiency will be available.

And vehicles which so far meet only the interim efficiencies will be able to be brought

up to the final requirements by a handbrake conversion kit.

Details of models needing attention to meet the requirements are given in a chart published by Rootes. This also includes models which meet both the interim and final requirements without modification.

Because operators will be primarily concerned with models that will require attention, details of these are:— • Models which meet the interim requirements but which will need a conversion kit to meet the final efficiencies; forward-control range: CADY .815/887, 1962-1963; C13.815/841/862/ 887. 1963-1965. 500 Series: KL.600, 1965 onwards.

• Models for which a kit will be made available to meet the interim standards and, in the case of tractive units, which will require conversion to dualline to meet the final requirements: Tractive units —HD.1094 (92A/T92) 1957-1964; CAD.1094, 1962-1963; HD.1294 (93A/T93) 1957-1964; CAD.1294, 1962-1963 and CB.1294, 1963-1965. Third-axle conversions: CADY.7, 1962-1963; VAAS.7, 1962-1966; CD.7, 1954-1962; CBEW.8, 1963-1965.

• Models for which kits will be available to meet the interim standards, the kits also providing sufficient braking to satisfy the final requirements: D.310, 1963-1965; 3103/5/6, and D.305, 1958-1965; 3123/5/6, 1958-1961; 3144/5/6, 1958-1960; 3142, 1959-1962; 3133/5/6, 19611965; 3143, 1959-1965; D.309 tractive unit, 1959-1965; 3184/5/8, 1961-1965; D.309, 19611965; 3143, 1959-1965; D.309 tractive unit, 1959-1965; D.310 tractive unit, 1962-1965; A.308, 1963-1965; 3207/8, 1962-1965; 3244/8, 1962-1965; R.308, 1962-1965; T.308 (unless fitted with variable-ratio handbrake), 19621965; T.310 and R.310 (if fitted with air/hydraulic brakes in both cases), 1963-1965.
