Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Scammell Townsman and Scarab MH? I have been told they are classified as rigid vehicles although there is a definite means of articulation. Is this correct?Also how will these vehicles be affected by the new braking regulations?

AAs with any other tractive unit, when the

Townsman and Scarab are operating solo with no trailer attached they are classed as heavy motor cars, assuming their unladen weight is over 3 tons. But when a trailer is attached the combined outfit then becomes an articulated vehicle.

The manufacturers confirm that both these models will require to be modified to comply with the new braking regulations.
