Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A Group of Small Vehicles which are being Operated from a Popular East Coast Resort.

THE Claeton and District Motor Service, Ltd., who run a number of bus services in and around the popular Essex resort, have .recently put into service a trio of 14-seater Ford saloon buses as illustrated on the next page. The services are run under the cognomen Silver Queen," and are well patronized by local inhabitants as well as visitors.

These throe vehicles form part of a large order which the Lincolma Motor Co., Ltd., of 369, High Street, Lincoln, are supplying to the company. We learn that the first half-dozen of this type which are in service of the company are giving most satisfactory results, and that they are averaging 20 miles to the gallon of Sue] consumed. In view of the fact that the buses_ are operating in different districts under varying conditions; the remits must be considered extremely gratifying. The oil consumption of the machines has also proved to be economical.

The buses are fitted with the same size pneumatic tyres on all four wheels, and this equipment undoubtedly contributes to the comfortable riding of the machkes. In most respects the design of the bodies cOnforms to conventional practice, and the seats all face forward. The vehicles are, of course, arranged for one-man control, the passenger entrance being at the front on the near side, although there is also an emergency door at the rear. The subjects of lighting and ventilation have received adequate attention in the design of these bodies. It is interesting to note that the Clacton and District Motor Service, Ltd., have had the Rockstel/ axle installed in these buses, enabling four speeds to be obtained in the forward direction and two in the reverse. The price of the axle, which is manufactured in Canada, is £35.

The price of this type of bus, complete with electric lighting and selfstarter set and using the Ford one-ton chassis as a basis is £275.
