Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Trans-Action was formed by a group of hauliers from the South-East who are frustrated at the Chancellor's decision to increase the duty on fuel by 5.5p/lit in the last Budget.

We are trying to make the public aware of what is happening to the future of our haulage industry in the UK. Following the lifting of cabotage regulations in a few weeks' time, any foreign haulier will be able to haul our internal domestic loads using fuel imported on their vehicles at up to £1 per gallon cheaper than in the UK.

Foreign hauliers will be hauling goods around the UK without the Government receiving a penny of duty on the fuel being used, while UK hauliers cannot compete and are forced out of business.

This may make sense to the Chancellor but it certainly does not to UK hauliers. It should also be noted that these foreign vehicles do not pay any British road tax, which we believe is primarily collected for our roadbuilding infrastructure.

A large percentage of Trans-Action hauliers are RHA and FTA members who are amazed at the reaction of their trade associations' director-generals to the peaceful demonstration held on 3 April.

Come on, Messrs Norris & Green—wake up to the real world and stand up and be counted for your members before you lose them. We cannot continue waiting.

Any haulier interested in Trans-Action please fax your details to 01795 662010. We need all the support we can get!
