FODEN lorries manufactured by Sandbach Engineering are the only heavy goods vehicles to offer asbestos-free brake linings as standard equipment. They are available on all current production models.
The linings combine DuPont's Kevlar aramid fibre and processed mineral fibres, but do not contain coarse hard particles that wear out drums. The linings are said to last 35 per cent longer than conventional asbestos linings, and the service life of drums can be more than doubled.
