TRAFFIC DIVERSIONS in the Dover port area are going smoothly, after the police ignored an elaborate Kent County Council traffic scheme (CM February 26) and allowed dock bound traffic to continue using a single lane of Jubilee Way, the road undergoing repairs.
Police said the abandoned route was unsuitable because a lorry escape lane had not been completed in time, and vital roadworks immediately outside the Eastern Docks had not been completed. The diversion is expected to end around mid-June.
