• Only three months after the South Eastern Traffic Commissioners granted Maidstone Corporation permission to increase its fares on its buses—sufficient to bring in over £51,000 in increased revenue—it is to seek another increase.
The Corporation's transport committee claims that a serious loss of revenue is causing a substantial deficit. A spokesman described the situation as "very serious" and said the application could be "quite substantial".
A recently implemented traffic management scheme is blamed for the loss of pick up points in the town.
